The cast of Joseph and His Brothers

Pastor Senn's new play, "Joseph and His Brothers", is adapted from Genesis 35-50 and from Tim Rice's lyrics for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, the musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber.  The story is about Joseph being sold by his brothers into slavery in Egypt and coming to the attention of the pharaoh because of his ability to interpret dreams. It explains how the children of Israel got into Egypt.  It is also a remarkable story of family dynamics (we might say dysfunctions) that ends in forgiveness and reconciliation.

All of Immanuel's youth, including Sunday School, confirmation class, and youth group performed the play on Sunday, March 18 at 5:30p.m.  It was followed by a family meal "appropriate to the Mediterranean theme" served by Sarah Stegner and Chris Djuric.
It was a fitting story for Lent, because it has the theme of reconciliation and forgiveness, and shows how God cares for. his people in ways that are not always clear to us.  And it shows that God can speak to us through dreams.  Those dreams come true.
